REM stands for Rare Earth Magnet.
The REM Guitar uses rare-earth magnets to not only connect the pickups to the guitar, but also to transmit the sound. The pickups are connected using two magnets, which act as the two poles of the pickup. They can then be placed on the rails in the back of the guitar without any re-tuning. It only requires a "quick change" to swap pickups or change configurations. This system allows the guitarist to carry additional pickups in the guitar case to achieve a different sound for the specific situation.
Because the pickups are magnetized to the body of the guitar and are not permanently attached, they can be slid back-and-forth, or even angled, to create different sounds. Additionally, they can be flipped around to produce an out-of-phase effect on the guitar. Our product gives you the ability to experiment as you play, in order to develop the sound that you want, which is completely unique to you!
It turns out that different pickups and their locations have more impact on the sound of the guitar than the body shape, wood, or type. Therefore, by having the ability to easily swap pickups, a wide pallet of sound variation can be created.
